Finding dirt on Santorum

Looking for dirt on Rick Santorum. Given his recent win in Iowa (and given how little money he had to spend versus Romney I consider it a win) the media is going to start jumping all over him. I'm curious what is actually out there other than his backing of Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey. Regardless of how you feel about his choice (I personally can't stand Specter) it was the best choice to ensure we got Alito on the Supreme Court. Incumbents historically have a much better chance of staying in office which meant a better chance to not lose to the Democrat challenger.

So, that said; Bring on the dirt, with links please. Show me the proof of how dirty, or clean, he really is.

  1. So CNN (and probably the other news networks, I can only watch so much news in a day) is trying to pin Santorum on voting for the "Bridge to Nowhere" project in Alaska. Funny since that bridge was listed as a specific project in the 2006 National Appropriations Bill, which also covered a massive amount of money to public works projects across the country.

It also originally passed with a 93-1 vote, so pretty much everyone in the Senate in Oct 2005 voted for the bill (back when the Senate actually passed yearly budgets rather than "Continuing Resolutions" like they are legally required to). Also, the specific bit about the bridge was removed in the final version of the bill, so guess what, there were no funds given to the bridge!

  2. So now they are trying to label him a racist due to a statement he may or may not have made. He denies it, the various MSM groups claim he did. However going through a horde of youtube and newssite videos of the incident it sounds more like he started to say it, then tried to say white in the middle and it came out "blite." His lower jaw doesn't seem to do the usual backward motion most people get when they use the "ack" syllable.

To be honest, even if it's true, one gaffe does not a racist make. Racists historically have a history, and politicians are looked at even more than most. Don't you think if he had any kind of racist remarks or record in his past it would have been brought up in his previous election bids? Especially in Pennsylvania, where it would have blown his career away years ago, not led to multiple re-elections.

Never saw any of the media mentioning how racist Robert Byrd was even though he was part of the KKK, now did you? Hypocritical no matter which turns out to be true regarding Santorum.
